The Whitefish speech and debate team got another strong early-season performance at the Bozeman Hawker Invitational.

Whitefish took second in the Class ABC division of the invitational, behind Columbia Falls.

The policy debate duo of Ian Caltabiano and Zach Ade had another solid showing, finishing sixth. Libby Goldhirsch took eighth in original oratory as well, her first time in the finals.

“We worked from a reduced team again, as students honored other commitments,” head coach Sara Mueller said. “The energy and passion in practice was obvious this week. I’m so proud of the connections these students have made. At a giant tournament, they were really out there to support each other.”

The team heads to Loyola this weekend for their next contest.

Whitefish will also host its own tournament on Dec. 2. Interested judges should email muellers@whitefishschools.org.
