Glacier Twins host fall meeting Nov. 13

| November 7, 2017 12:23 PM

The annual fall general meeting for returning and new Glacier Twins American Legion Baseball players will be held on Monday, Nov. 13 at 7 p.m. at Grouse Mountain Lodge in Whitefish.

This is a mandatory meeting for all returning Twins players. It is asked that at least one parent or guardian of all interested players be in attendance to sign and review important papers. Players must be at least 16 years old in 2018 to play ALB and have a birth date of Jan. 1, 1999 or after, to be eligible to play in 2018. Treats will be available at this meeting.

President/General Manager Kevin Slaybaugh and Head Coach Scott Murray will review this past season and discuss the outlook for the 2018 season and other events for both the “A” and the “B” teams.

Various ways in which a Twins player can earn credits to cover player fees will be explained. The criteria for the awarding of college scholarships at both the Ed Gallo Memorial Wood Bat Tournament in June and the Sapa-Johnsrud Memorial Tournament in July will be reviewed.

The hanging of fresh evergreen Christmas garland at city businesses and homes will begin on Nov. 18 and 19. This is one of the Twins’ major fundraisers.

Just under 3 miles of this garland (if laid out end-to-end) have been ordered and will be installed by Glacier Twins players to earn credits to partially fulfill their player fees. Glacier Twins board members, coaches, players and parents will assist and supervise individual teams to complete this project.

Garland can be installed draped from roof beams and eaves and/or wrapped around columns, posts, windows and doors. The Twins will remove and dispose of the garland after the Christmas holidays.

Business that want to place an individual order for this evergreen garland or wreaths, can call 862-9011 or 270-2385.

This is a Glacier Twins Baseball project to decorate the front of downtown and local area businesses and is not part of the overhead street decoration effort conducted by the Whitefish Shines group.
