Young actors get chance to practice at summer camp

| May 23, 2017 4:29 PM

Enrollment is now open for Whitefish Theatre Co.’s Summer Performance Camps.

WTC is offering programs for five age groups, including kindergarten, first and second grades, third through sixth grades, sixth through ninth grades, and seventh through 11th grades. Theatre camps at WTC offer tools that promote self confidence in a supportive, creative and dynamic environment. All camps culminate in a short 15-25 minute demonstration for family and friends on the last day of the class.

Camps include:

- Adventures in Theatre: Winnie The Pooh! This is for kindergarten only and runs July 10-14. Walk through the Hundred Acre Forest with Winnie the Pooh and the whole crew. Campers will learn to bounce like Tigger and fly like Owl on a journey with Christopher Robbin.

•Kids Take the Stage: Peter Pan! This is for first and second grades and is July 17-21. Come be a lost boy or girl and travel through Neverland with Peter Pan and Tink. Campers will face pirates, mermaids, and more on our quest to find poor Wendy.

- Acting In Action is for third through sixth grade and is on July 17-21. A fun class where students work on monologues and scenes that focus on the creation and action of “the character.”

- Singing Audition Workshop for seventh through 11th grade is on July 10-14. A team-taught, performance-oriented course for the serious musical theatre artist. Class will focus on how to give the best professional singing audition from start to finish.

- Monologue Audition Workshop is for seventh through 11th grade on July 17-21. Work on beats, through lines and character objectives while developing a monologue for your professional auditioning portfolio.

- Slapstick Comedy for sixth through ninth grade is on July 10-14. Slapstick is back with an abundance of silliness. Students will learn the art of physical clowning while creating loony-tunes type sketches.

Instructors include Amy Beth Chisholm, Rebecca Schaffer, Jessica Moore, Erica Von Kleist, Kim Krueger and Jesse DeVine.

All classes except Singing Audition Workshop cost $100 if registration fees are paid before June 15. Registration fees are $120 after June 15. Registration fees for Singing Audition Workshop are $115 if paid before June 15 and $135 if paid after June 15.
