Students win writing contest
The Lambda Chapter of the Delta Kappa Gamma Women’s Honorary Teacher Society recently announced the winners of their annual writing contest for students in grades five through eight.
The topic for this year’s essay was “What is prejudice? Why do you think prejudice exists in the world? What can you do to counter prejudice?”
In the fifth and sixth grade division, Angelina Mays was awarded an honorable mention. In the seventh and eighth grade division the winners were: first place, Sophia Woodward, seventh-grade at Whitefish Middle School; second place, Finn Davidson, seventh-grade at WMS; third place, Tanner Harmon, seventh at WMS; and honorable mention went to Jane Trina, seventh at WMS.
The winning entries were read and the prizes were presented at the Whitefish Community Library. Students, parents, teachers and Delta Kappa Gamma members were present for the awards ceremony.
First place winners were awarded $30, second place received $20, third place was given $10 and honorable mention received $5. Lambda Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma would like to thank the students and teachers from throughout the Flathead Valley for their participation in the contest and for their commitment to writing.
