Review taking submissions for 'Rising Voices' issue
Whitefish Review is currently accepting submissions for issue No. 21 “Rising Voices.” Submissions are accepted through April 2.
The issue will be edited by Lowell Jaeger, a founding editor of Many Voices Press and recent editor of New Poets of the American West, an anthology of poets from western states. Lowell is Professor of English/Creative Writing at Flathead Valley Community College, where he also serves as Humanities Division Chair. Jaeger was recently featured on “The Writer’s Almanac” with Garrison Keillor.
“Rising Voices” is a call for our most necessary and compelling expressions. The theme comes from the inspiring example of high school writers from Browning High School in the heart of the Blackfeet Nation. These young authors have come together under the name of “Rising Voices,” and amid the tumult of difficult circumstances, they are discovering what it is they have to say, what messages of value they have for the rest of us.
The issue hopes to encourage others to follow the student’s lead to find essential and captivating ways of expression. Whitefish Review is calling for poems, photos, essays, stories, and art that exemplify the rising voice within us all. Work must be original and previously unpublished and submitted through Whitefish Review’s online submission manager.
