Whitefish High School was one of eight local high schools to recently receive a donation from the Whitefish Credit Union as part of the School Spirit Debit Card campaign.

More than $12,000 went to Bigfork, Columbia Falls, Flathead, Glacier, Eureka, Polson, Thompson Falls and Whitefish schools. Whitefish Credit Union’s president and CEO Jim Kenyon recently presented Whitefish Superintendent Heather Davis Schmidt with a check for $1,620.

Davis Schmidt thanked Whitefish Credit Union for the donation.

“They’ve been a longtime supporter of Whitefish Schools,” she said. “We really appreciate the partnership and the support and this gives us one more opportunity to show our Bulldog pride.”

Davis Schmidt said the money may go toward funding events for staff appreciation week in May.

“We’re thrilled to be able to make a donation like this to benefit the students of our local high schools,” Kenyon said in a prepared release. “Supporting our friends and neighbors in the communities where we live and work is a credit union core value, and one we take very seriously. We look forward to continuing our tradition of community support throughout 2017 and beyond.”

Whitefish Credit Union is the largest credit union in Montana, with nearly $1.4 billion in assets and 58,000 members.
