Donald S. Clark
Donald S. Clark, of Whitefish, passed peacefully at his residence, in the company of his family, on May 19, 2017.
He was born on Sept. 19, 1938, in Lowell, Indiana, the son of Donald H. Clark, and Lydia Voltmer Clark. Don was the brother of Shirley Herz, formerly of Schneider, Indiana. Don married the love of his life, Mary A. Peterson, on May 7, 1961, in Momence, Illinois.
He is survived by his wife, Mary P. Clark, of Whitefish; his daughter, Rebecca Meehan of Fairview Heights, Illinois, and his son Christopher Clark and daughter in-law, Ellie Clark, of Whitefish. Don also enjoyed the love of his six grandchildren, Christopher Clark Jr. of Portland, Oregon, Thomas Clark and Addison Clark of Olympia, Washington, and Adam Meehan, James Meehan, and Katie Meehan of Fairview Heights, Illinois.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and his sister, Shirley Clark Herz.
Don was a long-time owner of Dixie Lumber Co. in Momence and continued to work in the lumber and building supply industry in Charleston, South Carolina, and most recently at Western Building Center in Whitefish, until his retirement. Don enjoyed traveling and spending time outdoors hiking and fishing. He made a lasting positive impact on his family and the many friends made throughout his life. Don had a soft spot for wings and beer on Friday nights at the Bulldog. He was a member of Whitefish United Methodist Church in Whitefish.
