Bulldog Open tourney set to tee off Sunday
Greens Crew Shines
We are so fortunate to have a greens crew that is so consistent and attentive to the needs of the golf course. This spring has been a challenge with the huge amount of rain early and the explosion of turf growth to try to maintain at a playable height. Dick Collins and most of his staff have been involved with WLGC for many years and the experience is obvious to all of us that call this facility home. Losing Ty Phillips from the staff as our Irrigation Tech is a significant loss with his valuable knowledge and experience with our enormous irrigation system. We are however fortunate to have Monte Walker, an experienced Golf Course Superintendent, available to fill the void. We wish Ty Phillips the best in his job and future.
Bulldog Open Sunday
Only a couple of spots remain open for this year’s Bulldog Open on Sunday, June 18. This four-person scramble is always a fun event with food, prizes and comradery available to everyone. All the proceeds are used to support junior golf at WLGC including financial assistance to the WHS teams. Call today to reserve a spot in the morning session of the Bulldog, which tees off at 7:30 a.m. We really appreciate our corporate sponsors; Whitefish Ford, Glacier Bank, American Bank, Whitefish Credit Union, Marcus Foods and Jesco Power Sports for their generous support.
PGA Junior Golf Event
What fun it is to watch the future of golf begin to enjoy the game through the PGA program that encourages young players to get involved. Our team of junior golfers from WLGC competed against each other Sunday afternoon in a friendly match. Play for the juniors is divided into three hole competitions with points awarded in the scramble type format for the two person team winning each hole over the nine-hole match. The format introduces the players to competition without the pressure of having to only play their ball.
