Glacier Twins have hot bats heading into tourney
The Twins’ hot streak continued last week with sweeps of the Lakers AA and the Loggers.
On Wednesday Glacier hosted the Lakers at Memorial Field in Whitefish. The Lakers led 3-2 heading into the seventh inning before a James Sampson-Keck go-ahead double blew the game wide open. The Twins would score five runs in the inning to best Kalispell 7-3.
Sampson-Keck had two RBIs and Ryan Veneman had three hits, including two doubles.
Forrest Kobelt got the win after allowing a run, two hits and four walks in his 3 1/3 innings of relief.
The bats came up big late the following night, as a two-run eighth inning broke open what was a 2-1 lead for the Twins for the 4-1 win.
Glacier racked up 17 hits on the game, with Veneman, Tom Hellwig and Greyson Bistodeau with three hits each.
Veneman got the win on the mound for the Twins.
The Twins got more of the same from the plate on Saturday, taking down Libby twice 11-3 and 14-10.
Dan Seymour and Gunner Marsh both drove in three runs in the first game, and Veneman went 2-3 for two RBIs as well. Skyler Warner got the win in the opener.
In the second game, Coby Clark-Dickenson and Tyler Murphy both had four RBIs in the high-scoring game. Terek Bistodeau also went 4-5 for scored twice. Kobelt picked up the win on the mound.
The Twins have won 21 of their last 22 games.
The Twins get a short break before hosting the Sapa/Johnsrud Tournament from Thursday through Sunday.
