To King Ullr Ross and Queen of the Snows Sue,

Now that I’m in Antarctica, I realize my home and heart are in Whitefish. The ties that bind me to you are stronger than I knew.

My extended family has grown beyond my wildest dreams ... thousands, even mil-lions, of cousins carpet the landscape, a pattern of black and white extending to the far hills. I can’t even pretend to remember all their names! But they have welcomed me with open flippers, and listen intently when I tell them of the friendly hospitality of Montanans.

Brrr! A penguin plunge here is so icy cold that it makes me long for the warmer wa-ters of Whitefish Lake! The fish are abundant in the waters here, but it is a different diet than I enjoy in Montana. I’m getting tired of krill, lantern fish and silverfish. I love whitefish; I love Whitefish, Montana!

May you have a fantastic, fun-filled celebration and reign! I’ll return home in time for the 2018 Winter Carnival ... home is Whitefish!
