Pick up after dogs

| January 24, 2017 3:00 PM

I want to acknowledge the amazing efforts of the Whitefish Legacy Partners in the creation and maintenance of the Whitefish Trail. It is remarkable that such a trail system exists so close to our town and I deeply appreciate the foresight of all who contributed to the trail’s creation and upkeep. The Whitefish Trail is truly a gift to be respected and appreciated.

Having said that, many of us are getting very tired of having to walk around dog poop along the trail, particularly near the Lion Mountain trailhead. With all of the effort involved in this trail I think it is tremendously disrespectful to all of us to have to avoid so much feces along the path, particularly when there are dog bags supplied along with shovels and signage requiring that we pick up after our dogs. I assume that these dogs owners either feel it’s their right to not have to remove their dog’s poop or they are simply not paying attention, either way it is negligent and disrespectful to those of us that come after.

Please pay attention to your dog and consider those of us who follow you. Dispose of your dog’s waste properly. We are there to enjoy the scenery and the peace and quiet, not to stare at the trail to avoid the piles of poop.
