Alfred Raymond Acree
Alfred Raymond Acree passed away on Feb. 2, 2017 at Kalispell Regional Medical Center with his family by his side. Born June 13, 1934.
Al retired from the Washington, D.C. Fire Department, worked for NASA Headquarters in Washington, D.C., and numerous jobs throughout the years. He was a member of the VFW Post 276 and the Moose Lodge of Whitefish.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1951 to 1955 and served 11 months in Korea aboard the USS Saipan. He was a member of the USS Saipan CVL-48 Association and served as Vice President from 2008 until his death.
He married the love of his life Barbara Agpaoa Coley on Dec. 3, 1965. They lived in New Carrollton, Maryland, until 1992, when they moved to Whitefish.
Al loved to hunt, ski, travel and go camping with friends.
Preceded in death by his parents and brother, George.
He is survived by his wife Barbara and sons, Mitchell of California and Jamie of Maryland, two grandchildren, sister, Carolyn Harrison (George) of Maryland, brother John of Michigan and many relatives living in Maryland, Virginia, Michigan, California and Montana.
On Friday, Feb. 10 at 11 a.m., a funeral mass was held at St. Charles Barromeo Catholic Church in Whitefish with Father Kenneth Fortney officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made, in his honor, to Montana Wounded Warriors, 100 Cooperative Way, Suite 100, Kalispell, MT 59901-2386.
