McGeady, Nicholson sign letters of intent
Two Whitefish High School senior athletes announced their decisions to continue their athletic careers at the collegiate level early Wednesday morning.
Patrick McGeady, with his mother Jennifer standing by his side, signed a letter of intent to play defensive end for the Montana Tech football team next season.
“I’ve been going down there for three years for our team camp and I’ve just loved it ever since,” McGeady said. “When I went down for my visit there was a family atmosphere, and they have a winning team. It’s a great school.”
McGeady said he plans to pursue a major in the business, information and health technology field, and he’s excited to get back on the gridiron while he starts earning his degree.
Lady Bulldogs soccer phenom Haley Nicholson, with her parents Rob and Nanci, also signed a formal letter of intent Wednesday to play for Mount Royal University in Calgary, Alberta. Nicholson’s decision to attend the school and play Division 1 soccer was announced in a Nov. 9 Pilot story.
Nicholson said her decision was influenced by a chance for a new experience by going to Canada for university. She wants to be a physical therapist, but she’s eager to see how her expectations of college compares to reality.
“I have an idea in me of what it’s going to be, but will everything happen the way I think it will?” she said.
