It was a tough weekend for the Bulldogs, who dropped two conference battles.

On Friday Whitefish headed to Polson to take on the Pirates.

Despite opening up the game on an 8-0 run, Polson roared back with a 13-0 run of their own and led at half 28-13.

The Pirates’ Shade Main dropped 12 of his 21 points during the third quarter, putting the game out of reach for the Bulldogs.

Whitefish fell 57-26.

Lee Walburn led the team in scoring with 13.

The following night ended with a heartbreaking loss in a close game against Browning.

The Dogs again opened with a big run, going up 14-2 to start the game.

Whitefish appeared in control, but the Indians started using a full-court press in response.

A host of turnovers by Whitefish had Browning back in it, and the teams were tied heading into the fourth quarter.

Deadlocked at 54 apiece, Derek Loring nailed a clutch three-pointer for Browning to take the lead. Browning went on to win 59-54.

Walburn again led in scoring with a game-high 24 points.

Whitefish will host Libby on Thursday. That game will start at 7:15 p.m.

The Bulldogs need to get the ball rolling in conference play soon. Right now they sit at 1-4 overall and 0-1 in conference.

A win against Libby (2-2, 0-2) would start moving Whitefish up the ranks in Northwest A standings.

Whitefish had been set to play at Frenchtown Tuesday, but the game was canceled due to weather. It will be rescheduled.
