WTC holds audtions
The Whitefish Theatre Co. is holding auditions for the winter production of “The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane”, a family production that will be performed in February and March of 2018.
Auditions will take place on Dec. 10 and 11 at 7 p.m. at the O’Shaughnessy Center in Whitefish. Auditions are for adults of all ages and young actors ages 7 and up. The north door at the back of the O’Shaughnessy Center will open at 6:30 p.m. for those wanting to fill out an audition application early and review the audition selections.
Based on Newbery-winner Kate DiCamillo’s (“Because of Winn-Dixie”, “The Tale of Despereaux”) beloved book, “The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane” is a breathtaking story of finding friendship, finding yourself, and eventually finding your way home. The story follows Edward Tulane, a dapper china rabbit who is given as a birthday present to 10-year-old Abilene, who loves him almost as much as Edward loves himself. But when he accidentally gets tossed overboard a cruise ship, self-absorbed Edward finds he has a lot to learn. As he embarks on an unexpected 20-year journey, Edward is caught in a fisherman’s net, lands in a garbage dump, travels with a happy hobo, and comforts a sick child, during which he encounters a series of people who take him into their homes and hearts. Called “one of the most touching journeys I ever could have imagined” by DC Theatre Scene, Edward Tulane teaches us all that even a heart of the most breakable kind can learn to love, to lose, and to love again.
The cast will be composed of 14 adults, including eight men and six women of any age, and 13 young actors, ages 7 and up. No experience is necessary to audition and no preparation is required. Pages from the script will be provided.
Rebecca Spear is the director for this production. Rehearsals will begin on Jan. 8, 2018 and will be held Monday through Friday at the O’Shaughnessy Center from 6 to 9 p.m. There are seven performances on Feb. 22-25 and March 2-4, 2018.
