WTC holds auditions for 'The Liar'

The Whitefish Theatre Co. is holding auditions for a fall production of “The Liar” on Aug. 27 and 28 at the O’Shaughnessy Center in Whitefish. Auditions will be held at 6 p.m.

Please arrive early to fill out an audition application and review the script. WTC is asking everyone to enter at the north side of the building near the new conference room.

In a bitingly witty farce from comedic maestro David Ives (“Venus in Fur,” “All In The Timing”), “The Liar” turns 17th century France on its ear in this non-stop linguistic masterpiece. Dorante is a charming young man with a bright future and one glaring personality quirk – he cannot tell the truth. When he hires a valet who cannot tell a lie, the fun begins: mistaken identities, breathtakingly intricate lies, duels, intrigue, identical-twin lady’s maids, and multiple marriage proposals all combine to create a hilarious urban romance that will leave you laughing long after the final curtain. The New York Times calls “The Liar” an “effervescent delight ... Mr. Ives’ lyric and comic invention never falters.”

The cast will be composed of five men, ages early 20s to late 50s, and three women, ages early 20s to late 40s. No experience or preparation is necessary to audition. Pages from the script will be provided.

David Ackroyd is the director for this production. Rehearsals begin the week of Sept. 5 and will held Monday through Friday from 6 to 9 p.m. There are seven performances over two weekends on Oct. 19-22 and Oct. 26-28.
