Golfers post low scores at WLGC
Bennett Shoots 78
Bob Bennett, 86 year old member at WLGC, shot a remarkable round last Saturday during the member/guest tournament. Bob carries a 21 handicap so to beat your handicap by this big a margin in truly phenomenal. Congrats to Bob for such a spectacular day of putting on the North Course.
Record Round on the South Course
Carroll Lilly’s 61 on the South Course during the member/guest tournament was the lowest tournament round ever recorded on the South Course. Carroll birdied seven of his first 10 holes, while finishing with three more completing a bogey free round. This is the second 61 round recorded at Whitefish Lake Golf Club in the past week, with Ryggs Johnson from Libby posting his record setting score during the WHS golf tournament on the North Course. Both of the 61s broke the previous low scores of 64 on the two courses. While Ryggs Johnson is a 17-year-old, Carroll Lilly is the current senior champion at Whitefish Lake Golf Club.
USGA Championships
If you’ve been watching the men’s and women’s 2017 United States Golf Association Amateur Championship you couldn’t miss the youth movement that is dominating the game. The oldest player in the competition, after qualifying rounds, was all of 21-years-old. On the PGA tour this year the past few winners have all been mostly in their early 20s. It is great to see such a resurgence in golf by the younger players.
