The Whitefish cross country team is set to kick off their season Saturday at Libby. That race will start at 11 a.m.

The Bulldogs started practice Aug. 11.

“It’s a really fantastic start to our season. Numbers are high, boys especially, and the quality of the training is very good,” head coach Richard Menicke said.

“I’d like to see our team, boys and girls, place higher in the conference and state championships, and I want to see the individuals see improvement in the running as far as their times from last year,” he added.

Whitefish will host one home meet on Sept. 26 at Whitefish Lake Golf Club. That race is set to begin at 3 p.m. Whitefish will race in Kalispell Sept. 15 at Rebecca Farm.

Menicke said he’s excited to see his returning varsity runners push beyond what they achieved last season.

“I’m super excited. The girls did very well last year, and we have almost everybody back from that team, and the boys team has added some really great quality. I think we’ll have a surprising boys team,” he said.
