Guest player rounds holding strong
PGA Championship
Another great finish to a major in 2017, with Justin Thomas pulling off the improbable come from behind win for his first major championship. A third generation Golf Professional has to have made his dad and grandfather extremely proud Once again a 24year-old showed poise beyond his years under the ultimate test and pressure to hang on and win. Perhaps the hanging putt that took nearly the whole allotted 10 seconds on the edge of the cup before finally falling into the hole was the preamble of what was to come.
Storm takes two large trees
Last Thursday night’s storm managed to blow down two mature trees on the North golf course, one near the eighth green and another along the fifth fairway. Powerful storms can cause even healthy trees to fall, so the staff and management always encourage players to seek safety during any storm to prevent an accident from occurring. If the trees are swaying seek shelter. Our crew is to be commended for the quick and excellent job of cleaning up the downed trees and other debris from this storm.
High school golf
This week the 2017 Bulldog golf teams start their season with a home tournament on the North Course this coming Wednesday. The young Bulldogs will host all the Class A schools in the region and will test their ability against the other schools in the division. With Libby High School returning to Class A this fall Ryggs Johnson will be leading the Loggers team to another season as he seeks his first Class A title and his third straight individual state championship. Coach Kahle’s Bulldog teams should be competitive again this year and will improve steadily as they gain experience.
