Students earn tech award

Two Whitefish students have been recognized for their accomplishments and aspirations in computing and technology.

Seniors Rose Madison and Alora Newbury were two of 14 young women awarded by the National Center for Women and Information Technology, Northwestern Energy and Carroll College. Newbury was also a 2016 winner.

The winners received their awards during a presentation at Carroll College, which featured four Montana IT women from NorthWestern Energy, Northrop Grumman and Google talking about their careers in technology.

The NCWIT is a nonprofit coalition of over 200 corporations, academic institutions, government agencies and nonprofits, and the Award for Aspirations in Computing was made to promote the computing aspirations of young women. Winners are chosen based on their outstanding aptitude and interest in technology, leadership ability, academic history and plans for post-secondary education.
