Auditions set for Black Curtain production of 'Luna Gale'
The Whitefish Theatre Co. is holding auditions for “Luna Gale,” the final Black Curtain Theatre production of the 2016-2017 season.
Auditions are being held on April 16 and 17 at 7 p.m. at the O’Shaughnessy Center in Whitefish. Please arrive early to the Green Room at the north side of the building to fill out an audition application and review the script.
“Luna Gale,” written by Rebecca Gilman, is an unforgettable tale of faith and forgiveness. Caroline, a veteran social worker, thinks she has a typical case on her hands when she meets Peter and Karlie, two teenage drug addicts accused of neglecting their baby named Luna Gale. But when Caroline places their infant daughter in the care of Karlie’s mother, she sparks a family conflict that exposes a shadowy, secretive past—and forces her to make a risky decision with potentially disastrous consequences. “Luna Gale” is powerful and arresting and, according to the Chicago Reader, is “a compelling and compassionate portrait of flawed people making impossible choices.”
The cast will be composed of three men and four women, ages 18 to early 60s. No experience or preparation is necessary to audition. Pages from the script will be provided.
Scott Plotkin is the director for this production. As a Black Curtain show, actors will remain on book during performances and there will be minimal costumes and set. There will be a total of nine rehearsals and one tech night on May 5. There are two performances over one weekend on May 6 and 7.
