Girls golf advances to state

The Whitefish girls golf team dominated the Western A divisional tournament at Hamilton Golf Course on Saturday, claiming the team title.

The team posted a combined score of 409, ahead of Dillon’s 432. The top two teams qualify for the state tournament on Friday and Saturday in Hamilton.

Whitefish had four golfers place in the top 12. Sophomore Gracie Young shot a 94 for third place, and senior Holly Hileman took sixth with a 101. Senior Hayley Hileman tied for tenth with a 106 and freshman Megan Archibald came in right behind with a 108 for 12th place. The top 15 individual finishers qualify for state.

Sophomore Brendan Buls shot an 85 to tie for 12th place, which qualifies for state play. The boys team took fourth place with a 380. Hamilton took first with a 319 and Polson finished just behind with a 326. Both will advance to the state tournament.
