It is with great pleasure and confidence that I support Dave Fern for House District 5 and Melissa Hartman for Senate District 3. Both are highly qualified, mature and intelligent individuals whom I trust to make decisions that are in the best interest of the residents of Whitefish and the state of Montana.

Melissa has two bachelor of arts degrees in both government and economics from Connecticut College, a masters degree in social work from New York University, and has worked for the Department of Commerce in Washington, D.C. As a licensed clinical social worker in private practice, who has also worked with the Center for Restorative Youth Justice, she is perfectly prepared to help Montana’s urgent need to reduce a painfully high rate of suicide as well as a plethora of health and human services issues.

Dave is an acknowledged expert in school finance after serving on the Whitefish School Board for 24 years. Combined with his experience as a small business owner, he understands the importance of fiscal responsibility, balancing a budget and working together to meet the demands and challenges of adequately funding Montana’s essential operations.

As your Representative to the Montana legislature for the past four years I have had the opportunity to work with legislators from all over the state, including the Republican candidate for Senate District 3. As such I believe Dave and Melissa are not only the best qualified to represent Whitefish in this election, but they also have what it takes to make excellent legislators. Neither of them can be considered an ideologue. They will not support a dangerous, life-threatening policy that allows guns in our schools, nor will they play legislative games that jeopardize the economic future of Montana. I know Dave and Melissa are hard working, sincere individuals that will give their best for Whitefish. We are fortunate to have people of their caliber step up on our behalf. Please give them your vote in the upcoming election. You won’t regret it.

Democratic Rep. Ed Lieser represents House District 5.
