Lady Dogs nipped at net by Kats

The Lady Bulldogs fell to defending state champion and rival Columbia Falls 3-1 Thursday evening in a Northwest A volleyball match at home.

Whitefish (1-2) avoided the sweep with a win in the third set, going 25-23, 25-13, 20-25 and 25-10 against the Wildkats (4-0).

Senior Nina Thew led the team with six kills and junior Libby Nagler finished with 15 assists and three aces, both team highs for Whitefish. Junior Cailyn Ross added a block and 14 digs for the Bulldogs.

For Columbia Falls, Senior Cydney Finberg had 38 assists and four aces, and Kaitlyn Casazza had 13 assists.

Whitefish will travel to Frenchtown (0-2) Thursday and Browning (0-4) Saturday.
