First Street from the Central Avenue alley to Baker Avenue will be closed beginning on Thursday, Sept. 8 as part of work on the City Hall and parking structure construction project.

Martel Construction will be placing concrete for the first element of the parking structure ramps. The closure is expected to last one day.

The street will be closed, at the alley, at 9 a.m. Thursday, and will remain closed until all concrete activities are complete. First Street is expected to be re-opened by 7 a.m. Friday.

The parking areas along First Street, adjacent to Piney Creek, and the parking lot behind Craggy Range will remain open throughout the process. The alleys will remain open as well.

Martel Construction will begin staging material and equipment during the day on Thursday with the actual pour beginning around 10 p.m. Thursday. It is anticipated it will take 6 to 7 hours to place the nearly 300 cubic yards of concrete mix.
