Annual Meeting for 2016

The annual meeting of the Whitefish Lake Golf Association was held last Saturday with good attendance and full reports from committees regarding the operation of the golf course facility. The financial report reflected a decrease in guest rounds for the 2016 season but a steady support from all the 1,770 members of the Association. This past year the membership enjoyed 71 percent of the 58,000 rounds played with guests playing the remainder. Thanks to everyone that attended the annual meeting and financial reports are available in the Golf Shop upon request.

Two New Board Members Elected

Bill LeLievre and Tracey Whisenand were elected to three year terms on the Whitefish Lake Golf Association board of directors. Their respective terms will begin in January 2017, as they replace John Peschel and Leslee Washer who are completing their terms on the board. The members and board wish to thank the other candidates for running for the board and hopefully they will consider another run next year.

Hall of Fame Inductees

The Whitefish Lake Golf Association inducted two very deserving members into the Class of 2016 Hall of Fame at the Annual Meeting. Linda Ray a long time restaurant employee and a tireless volunteer who assists all the aspects of the club with her enthusiastic work ethic to accomplish so many diverse tasks. Linda is a hard working member of the Gary Norby Junior Golf Board, volunteer photographer for all the special events and tournaments, organizer of the newly established Wall of Fame and an active participant in nearly all club events and tournaments. She is to be commended for her long and valued service to the golf club.

Jack Collins, now 97 years young, first worked at the golf course while he was in high school before leaving for his tour of duty in the Armed Services. When he returned to Whitefish he once again became involved with the club as a member and is one of two remaining members from the 1950s. Jack was a member back when Whitefish Lake Golf Club was still a nine hole course. Jack has remained a member all the years throughout his professional career and well into his retirement, and he still plays with his friends and practices on the range. Jack is also the father to the Green Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent Dick and Pete Collins, respectively. He is admired and revered by all those that know him for his active life style, always ready smile and genuine concern for others.
