Nordic club accepting memberships

The Glacier Nordic Club is now accepting memberships for the 2016–2017 winter ski season and youth ski leagues are set to begin soon.

Memberships support trail grooming at the Glacier Nordic Center located at the Whitefish Lake Golf Course and the Nordic Trails on Big Mountain.

Early bird pricing is available until Dec. 3 at a cost of $110 for a family and $55 for an individual.

Beginning Dec. 4, pricing increases to $130 for a family and $65 for an individual. Either a membership or a $10 day pass is required to ski at the Nordic Center.

Memberships can be purchased online at glaciernordicclub.com or at the Glacier Nordic Shop at the Whitefish Lake Golf Course. The shop is open starting Dec. 2 on Fridays and Saturdays from noon to 3 p.m. until the course opens and then will be open Monday through Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Sundays from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Glacier Nordic Club Ski Team is taking registrations for all its junior programs.

Prep Team for ages 12 to 15 is underway with early-season dry-land training three or four days a week.

Junior Jets for ages 8 to 11 runs from Dec. 6 through early March on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Jets learn to skate and classic ski and improve their technique though fun activities and games. The cost is $175.

Chet Hope Youth Ski League for ages 4 to 12 runs for seven weeks starting the first week of January. Participants learn to classic ski and improve their technique. Participants can choose from Saturday morning and/or Wednesday afternoon sessions. The cost for each session is $45 for GNC members and $50 for non-members. There is a Chet Hope league open house on Dec. 8 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Glacier Cyclery in downtown Whitefish to find out more information, register and rent gear.

Gear rentals and scholarships are available for all programs.
