FVCC Theatre presents 'A Christmas Carol'

| November 29, 2016 4:07 PM

Flathead Valley Community College’s theatre department presents an all-new production of “A Christmas Carol” Dec. 1-3 and 8-10 in the campus theatre inside the Arts and Technology Building. All performances begin at 7 p.m., except the show on Dec. 3, which begins at 8 p.m.

This lighthearted version of the beloved classic by Charles Dickens is the perfect holiday outing for family members of all ages. With all of the traditional characters and memorable sights and sounds, this classic Christmas ghost story is sure to delight.

Under the direction of FVCC theatre’s adjunct professor Rebecca Spear, the large cast is comprised of community members and students from across the Flathead Valley.

When asked why she wanted to adapt her own script from Charles Dickens’ original book, Spear replied, “Initially, I read many script versions of the classic. After perusing the multiple adaptations, I desired to return to Dickens’ original story. I fell in love with his book all over again and found myself inspired to try something new ... create a fresh stage adaptation.”

While the show preserves the classic language of Charles Dickens, it moves at a more rapid pace than most adaptations of “A Christmas Carol.”

Tickets are available online at www.fvcc.edu, at the FVCC Bookstore and at the box office 30 minutes prior to the start of the show. Tickets are $10 for adults with a $5 discount for senior citizens. All students are admitted free of charge.
