Speech takes 2nd in Polson

The Whitefish Speech and Debate team had a strong weekend, taking second place for Class A at a tournament in Polson Saturday.

Two strong team debate performances helped boost the Bulldogs. Zach Kasselder and Ian Caltabiano took third place in policy debate and Zoe Dugan and Seth Carmichael took fourth in public forum debate.

Teigen Tremper took first place in impromptu speaking and Lilly Butts claimed fourth in the Lincoln-Douglas debate.

Columbia Falls took first in the tournament with 119 sweepstakes points. Whitefish finished behind with 72.

Saturday was the team’s last competition until Dec. 10, when they host their home tournament at Whitefish High School.

Policy debate: 3. Zach Kasselder and Ian Caltabiano, 8. Abby Lowry and Douglas Mercer 8th place

Public forum debate: 4. Zoe Dugan and Seth Carmichael, 8. Cody Casazza and Mary Hooks

Lincoln-Douglas debate: 4. Lilly Butts

Informative speaking: 7. Ella Greenburg

Extemporaneous speaking: 7. Makkie Haller

Impromptu: 1. Teigen Tremper

Memorized public address: 7. Lucy Heutmaker, 8. Lindsey Matulionis
