WHS center is one more step forward in education

| November 8, 2016 3:33 PM

The local initiative from students, citizens and the Whitefish School District to build the Center for Sustainability and Entrepreneurship (aka greenhouse) is progressive and an idea that is trending nationally. The greenhouse was started with a grassroots fundraising effort led by a group of students who wanted to make a difference.

I believe that this type of hands-on, interactive learning center is just one more step forward to making the Whitefish educational system stand out even more.

As a local business owner, I believe that this type of concept will help kids think in creative, out-of-the-box mindsets that will produce new business leaders in our community. The center plans to have students work with local businesses on applying sustainability principles, and it will be great to have these fresh ideas from young people.

Getting kids more involved in our community is always beneficial. Students will gain real-world experience — and local businesses will have the pride of knowing they contributed to the education of a local student.

Whitefish has always been known for the overwhelming support of innovative projects and charitable giving. This is yet another worthy project.
