Thanks to volunteer for cleaning up park

| November 8, 2016 3:32 PM

As a Meals on Wheels volunteer, and a member of the Whitefish Community Center, I spend a fair amount of time by the Kay Beller Park (next to the center). If you haven’t found time to check it out, it is usually a very pleasant place to pause and enjoy the great area and to view the Whitefish River and the surroundings. It is one of those special Whitefish places that make us what we are! Over the past few years the willow trees have grown to the point where the beauty of the park has been overwhelmed by their growth.

Along comes Mike Fitzgerald. For several weeks now, I have watched Mike trim trees, rake leaves and confer with the Community Center staff about the possibility of adding a new bench and a picnic table to the park. Through his efforts, the park has taken on the appearance it had when it was originally dedicated several years ago.

Hats off to Mike and his many hours on this project, and his obvious love of our community.
