Glacier Twins players meeting set, garland sale begins

| November 8, 2016 3:31 PM

The annual November general meeting for returning and new or prospective Glacier Twins American Legion Baseball players will be held on Thursday, Nov. 10, at 7 p.m. at the Grouse Mountain Lodge in Whitefish.

This is a mandatory meeting for all returning Twins players. It is asked that at least one parent or guardian of all interested players be in attendance as well. Cake and refreshments will be served.

President Kevin Slaybaugh and Head Coach Bob Rupp will review this past season and discuss the outlook for the 2017 season and other events for both the “A” team and the “B” team. Various ways in which a Twins player can earn credits to cover player fees will be explained. The criteria for the awarding of college scholarships at both the Ed Gallo Memorial Wood Bat Tournament in June as well as the Sapa-Johnsrud Memorial Tournament in July will be reviewed.

The hanging of fresh evergreen Christmas garland at city businesses and homes will begin in around 10 days. This is one of the Twins major fundraisers. Just under three miles of this garland (if laid out end-to-end) have been ordered and will be installed by Glacier Twins players to earn credits to fulfill their player fees. Glacier Twins board members, coaches and willing parents will assist and supervise individual teams with this project. Garland can be installed draped from beams and eaves and wrapped around columns, posts, windows and doors. The Twins will also remove and dispose of the garland after the Christmas holidays.

If your business was missed last year or you want to place an individual order for this evergreen garland, please contact Connie Lockman at 862-9011.
