Speech and debate takes third in opener
The Whitefish speech and debate team kicked off their season with a third place finish in Stevensville last weekend.
Junior Zach Ade won the memorized public address event to lead the Bulldogs. Regan Tintzman took second in the informative speech event. Zach Kasselder and Ian Caltabiano took second in policy debate and Zoey Dugan and Seth Carmichael also placed second in public forum debate.
Columbia Falls took first in sweepstakes points, followed by Loyola in second.
Assistant coach Brianna Walling said the team was missing several students due to involvement in other sports, but Whitefish will be at full strength for the Kalispell Kick-Off tournament Saturday.
Walling said the team as a whole is much younger than last year, but with Ade, Kasselder and Makkie Haller leading as captains, she says this will be “another great competitive season.”
