What are Don Kaltschmidt's motives?

Don Kaltschmidt, who is running against Rep. Keith Regier for Senate District 3, has no visible involvement in the Republican Party.

He has not been involved with the Republican Central Committee or written letters supporting Republican priorities. He did state in a recent “meet and greet” sponsored by Republican Women that he is 110 percent in support of gun rights, but he didn’t know if he could support legislators having concealed weapons in the capitol. This is both bad math and a huge insult to legislators who go through the training and background check in order to be able to carry a concealed weapon for their own protection. With a small amount of planning, I believe anyone could easily carry a gun in a brief case into the state Capitol and sit up in the balcony and kill most of the senators before help could arrive.

I wonder about other Republican platform issues that Don “K” may compromise on.

Also, why did he not run for the House District 5 in Whitefish that did not have a Republican candidate? He also has said that he is a one-termer because he is going on a mission with his wife. All of this defeats his statement that he wants to use his leadership ability to get things done in Helena, which requires seniority.

His idea of working across the aisle will cost you either money, freedom or both. Democrats voted 100 percent for the CSKT Compact. They don’t compromise on their support of their platform and leadership.
