Police calls: Unwelcome couch surfer arrested

Whitefish Police calls from May 9 to 16:

Monday, May 9

11:23 a.m. A West 2nd resident reported a Craigslist fraud. The resident’s bank account was drained into the negatives after responding to a roommate wanted ad.

1:53 p.m. A smiling pit bull was seen running toward the Kiddie Park.

Tuesday, May 10

12:35 a.m. A Colorado Avenue resident reported an intoxicated woman sleeping on their futon. She left before police arrived.

7:57 a.m. A Dakota Avenue resident woke up to find a young woman sleeping on the couch. The woman was acting confused.

11:21 a.m. A wedding ring was reported stolen from the middle school.

1:59 p.m. Report of theft from a thrift store on East 1st Street.

8:31 p.m. Report of two men in a fist fight on Central Avenue.

Wednesday, May 11

8:34 p.m. Report of a man downtown who pulled another man from a vehicle and attacked him.

Thursday, May 12

10:52 a.m. Report of shoplifting on East 1st Street. The suspect returned the items when confronted.

3:15 p.m. Police assisted a woman who accidentally locked her child in the car.

Friday, May 13

11:34 a.m. A gray dog was running loose on Baker Avenue. Police advise the caller that Whitefish’s doesn’t have a dogcatcher.

Saturday, May 14

1:08 a.m. A man was arrested following a reported hit and run on Kalispell Avenue. The suspect allegedly hit a vehicle parked in front of a house then abandoned the vehicle and took off on foot.

1:44 p.m. A caller bought some children’s toys and wanted to know where to donate them.

Sunday, May 15

11:57 a.m. A man was arrested following a reported physical disturbance on Shiloh Avenue.

4:46 p.m. Report of a man dragging a woman along Somers Avenue.
