Whitefish golf pro cards first ace

Whitefish Lake Golf Club head professional Tim Olson carded his first ever hole-in-one Saturday in the Season Opener Tournament.

Olson’s ace occurred on No. 6 of the North Course and he hit his perfect 9-ron on the 144 yard hole. To make it even more special, he was playing with his two sons, Cody and Cooper, along with tournament partner Sean Tucker.

Congrats T.O. and good luck with the bar tab on that little event.

Olson has been the head professional at WLGC for 17 years and has handed out numerous plaques for the lucky players that score a hole-in-one — and now he joins the club.

Couple’s Event

The first Couple’s Event is scheduled for Sunday, May 29 with a noon start. These events tend to fill quickly, so make sure you don’t delay too much for the chance to play in this first outing. Check with the Golf Shop for the details of format and registration.

New greens open for play

Whitefish Lake Golf Club opened the newly reshaped and re-sodded Nos. 1, 7 and 8 greens on the North Course.

The putting surfaces look great and are getting stronger every day and will support play unless we get some severe weather conditions that could stress the new turf grass.

These three greens will be rolling a little slower than the rest as the maintenance staff has not lowered the cutting height as much as the other greens. While we are trying to get these greens well established it is best to leave as much tissue (blades of grass) as possible to help the roots and plant to grow stronger.

Enjoy the great conditions but remember to fix all the ball marks you find on all the greens.
