Details are still sketchy, but a 26-year-old man died Wednesday after he jumped into a shallow pool at Running Eagle Falls in Glacier National Park. The falls is a short hike off the Two Medicine Road on Glacier’s east side.

No foul play is expected. It’s about a 25 to 30-foot drop from the top of the fall into the shallow plunge pool at the bottom. The Park Service released few details on the accident.

The man’s name was not released pending notification of kin.

Drowning is the No. 1 cause of death in Glacier, but at this point, the Park hasn’t released a cause of death.

Park rangers arrived on the scene within minutes of receiving the call and performed CPR. ALERT, Glacier Emergency Services, Blackfeet Emergency Medical Services, Blackfeet Law Enforcement Services and the Glacier County Sherrif’s Department also responded to the scene. The man was pronounced dead at approximately 4:30 p.m. by advanced life services medical personnel at the scene.

The falls is a popular place for photographers, because it is a double falls with two separate flows that come out of the rock formation.
