Whitefish went undefeated in doubles play Friday to sweep a doubleheader of duals at Corvallis and Hamilton.

Chaffin Ross and Ethan Potthoff notched two key victories at No. 1 doubles, including a close 6-4, 6-4 battle to help lift the Dogs over perennial power Corvallis, 4-3.

“Corvallis is a great team,” said Whitefish coach Chris Schwaderer. “But we’ve got great depth this year and were able to beat them.”

Freshman Brendan Buls also pulled out a big win at No. 4 singles 6-7 (4-7), 6-4, 6-3 in the final match of the day.

“His win determined it,” Schwaderer said. “He kept his head and rallied back to get one for the team.”

Thomas Carloss, who recently switched from doubles to singles action, picked up a nice win against Hamilton then kept it going Saturday at the Bitterroot Invitational.

“Thomas has more of a singles mentality,” Schwaderer said. “He’s got a beautiful stroke.”

Nathan Fauth notched a win in the second round of the invite over Hamilton’s Ray Allison, 6-3, 4-6, 6-3.

Whitefish hosts Columbia Falls on Thursday, then hosts Bigfork and Hamilton on Saturday.
