Student uses 4,000 sticky notes in elaborate bid for prom date
Whitefish High School student Travis Catina had a simple question for Allie Schultz — will you stick with me at prom? But the way he went about asking was over the top as he applied roughly 4,000 sticky notes to her car in a promposal.
“I was hoping she would say yes after I went to all those hours of preparation,” he said.
She did.
“I had no idea he was going to do it,” Schultz said. “I had a feeling he was planning something, but I didn’t expect that.”
Just about every inch of the Hyundai Santa Fe was plastered in the small colorful paper squares. Along one side he spelled out “PROM?” in bright pink notes. On the hood of the car was a large red heart and the headlights were covered in white notes with red hearts. Many of the notes were hand-written with “T+A” or prom and a question mark.
Catina said he spent about three hours writing on the notes and then with the help of his mom and sister another four hours applying them to her car.
He looked up the dimensions of the car and then based on the size of the sticky notes did the math on the number he would need to cover the car.
When Schultz arrived home from dinner out with her family, Catina was waiting for her beside the decorated car inside the garage. He had a bouquet of roses and a sign asking her to the prom.
The sticky notes have already been removed from the car.
“I took them off because I didn’t want to litter,” Schultz said.
