Police calls: Guns in government housing
Whitefish Police calls Feb. 29 to March 6:
Monday, Feb. 29
8:37 a.m. Report of suspicious activity on East 4th Street. A resident said their phone rang then someone knocked on the door.
10:51 a.m. Report of a West 3rd resident who leaves the garbage container on the street all week. The caller had to replace their vehicle mirror after hitting the container.
11:05 a.m. A caller didn’t think guns should be allowed in government housing. The person keeps finding a target with bullet holes in the dumpster.
11:27 a.m. A young boy on Baker Avenue was reunited with his father after becoming separated during a bike ride. The boy had a new bike and wasn’t sure how to operate it.
Tuesday, March 1
10:14 a.m. Police were unable to locate A dog barking on Creekwood Drive.
6:07 p.m. Report of a couple arguing and slamming doors at an apartment on Lupfer Avenue. They told police they’d quiet things down.
Wednesday, March 2
8:30 a.m. A bicyclist reported a black lab chasing and snapping at him while riding on West 3rd Street.
11:04 a.m. Report of a highly intoxicated man hanging out and mumbling on East 8th Street. The man was taken to his home.
Thursday, March 3
8:19 a.m. The food bank was advised of a fresh deer kill near the cemetery.
8:35 a.m. A baby was accidentally locked inside a vehicle on Woodland Place.
10:06 a.m. Report of a customer who used a bad check when purchasing a power tool at a downtown store. The woman tried to return the tool for cash and was demanding her money back.
1:42 p.m. Report of a woman attempting to use a bad check at a Baker Avenue business. It was the second time she attempted to use a bad check in the same day at that business.
8:23 p.m. Report of a couple shoplifting from a grocery store. The man was seen sticking items under his arm and avoiding employees. Police investigated and found the man had a warrant from Columbia Falls. The woman had a warrant from Whitefish.
11:20 p.m. A couple parked on Highway 93 South were just having a talk.
Friday, March 4
8:07 a.m. Report of a hit-and-run on Waverly Place.
10:15 a.m. A woman told police she is sick and tired of a dog on Columbia Avenue attacking her dog and being aggressive toward her. The dog owner was advised to keep her dog locked up.
2:59 p.m. A man parked downtown was warned about a ladder sticking out too far on his pickup.
Saturday, March 5
1:26 a.m. An intoxicated woman was passed out on a sidewalk on Spokane Avenue. A ride came to pick her up.
1:49 a.m. Report of an intoxicated woman who tripped on a stool at a downtown bar. She was taken to the hospital, where she later became disorderly.
6:03 a.m. A driver in a loud pickup dropped off two girls in the driveway of a Colorado Avenue home. It seemed suspicious.
2:11 p.m. Blankets and other items left by transients were found on the riverbank near East 2nd Street.
3:33 p.m. Report of a man kicking a woman and dragging her across a driveway on West 7th Street. Another man on the scene was yelling at the woman.
6:14 p.m. A man allegedly keeps meth in his work locker.
11:28 p.m. Two people were sleeping it off in the parking lot behind a downtown bar.
Sunday, March 6
2:16 p.m. Two disorderly men downtown agreed to go home.
5:42 p.m. A woman was reportedly harboring her boyfriend who allegedly has felony warrants for his arrest.
