Olson steps down as Whitefish golf coach

Whitefish is searching for a new varsity golf coach to continue the school’s winning tradition.
Tim Olson has submitted his resignation as head coach of the boys and girls teams after four seasons at the helm. He led the Lady Bulldogs to consecutive State A championships the past two seasons, while both the boys and girls won back-to-back Northwest A divisional titles.
Olson took over as head coach in 2012 after longtime coach Terry Nelson retired. He was twice named the Class A golf Coach of the Year by the Montana High School Association.
Olson is the PGA Head Professional at Whitefish Lake Golf Club. The workload at the course played a role in his decision to step down, said Whitefish Athletic Director Aric Harris.
“With his commitment at the golf course and trying to coach and all the travel that our program faces, it gets to be pretty challenging,” Harris explained. “He’s done a remarkable job at keeping the program at the level we expect. We hope to keep doing that.”
The school is currently taking applications for the opening.
