Glacier A wrapped up the regular American Legion baseball season last weekend with a split against the Lakers A.

Jonny Sapa went nine innings on the mound Saturday in leading Twins to a 7-3 victory at Griffin Field in Kalispell. He struck out five batters and allowed eight hits in the win.

A rare triple play in the seventh frame highlighted the victory. Third baseman Tristin Steinwand started the play by snagging a hard-hit grounder. He tagged third, then threw to first base for the second out. Smith tagged the Kalispell baserunner attempting to get back to first for the final out.

Colten Parker and Jesse Walburn each had two RBI in the game.

The Lakers avenged the loss with a 8-3 victory on Sunday at Memorial Field in Whitefish.

Kalispell pushed across three runs in the third frame to break a scoreless tie. Glacier countered with three runs in the sixth, but was held scoreless for the remainder.

Sunday was the regular-season finale for both teams.

Glacier (33-20 overall, 19-6 league) will compete in the district tournament, which starts Wednesday in Florence.
