Toni Evans
Toni Evans of Whitefish quietly passed away June 24, 2016. Toni was a loving and fun wife, mother, grandmother and friend and will be remembered by all for her warm heart, strength and sense of humor.
Toni Franck was born in 1944 in Waterloo, Iowa, to Lorraine and Wesley Franck. She spent the final year of World War II sharing a room with her mother, aunt Mardelle and cousin Lynda at her grandparents’ house while her father fought with the 17th Airborne Division in Europe. Her childhood was spent running in the woods, riding bikes, playing with toy cars and climbing trees with her friends, cousins and her brother Jeff Franck.
Toni finished high school in Estherville, Iowa, where she met her soulmate Dan Evans. They married after graduation and soon afterwards were blessed with their daughter, Tracy (DeWan) and then four years later their son, Rick Evans.
After Dan graduated from Iowa State University, they moved to South Carolina where Toni discovered her love of the mountains, a joy that she jointly shared with her husband through her entire life. This passion eventually brought the Evans family to the Rocky Mountains of Whitefish, where they spent every possible moment fossil and crystal hunting, cross-country skiing, exploring ghost towns and navigating the trails, waterways and backroads of the northwest. Toni worked for many years in the printing and office supply business, most recently at The Towne Printer, where she was loved and respected and formed many deep friendships that enriched her life and theirs. In the later years of her life she was very active with her friends and family attending productions at the Whitefish Theatre Company, going to all family member events and attending weekly lunches with “her group.”
Toni was very close to and supportive of her four granddaughters, Alexandra, Erica, Ellie and Danielle. She was a wonderful confidant and friend to her children and grandchildren, a role that will be sorely missed.
Toni has requested that there be no funeral and that her ashes be scattered at the ocean. Enjoy your rest by the sea Mom. You always secretly wanted to live there. Love you…
