Local celebrities to appear in ATP's 'The Full Monty'

| July 5, 2016 11:30 PM

Local celebrities will join Alpine Theatre Project’s Broadway stars for a series of cameos in ATP’s upcoming production of “The Full Monty” starting July 7 at the Whitefish Performing Arts Center. The production, along with “Rock of Ages” and “Man of La Mancha,” is part of ATP’s summer season.

The local celebrities range from Montana’s Musical Ambassador, Rob Quist, and President of Glacier Bank, Robert Nystuen, to the current Whitefish Winter Carnival Prime Minister, Joe Akey.

One of ATP’s most popular productions of all time, “The Full Monty” tells the tale of unemployed steelworkers in Buffalo, N.Y., and their scheme to become male strippers in a desperate attempt to raise some much-needed cash. The local celebrities will play the part of a man auditioning to become one of the strippers.

“It’s a fun way to get our local leaders involved,” says ATP Artistic Director, Betsi Morrison. “The show is hilarious and heartwarming. Having these men involved is just the icing on the cake.”

Local celebrity cameo appearances for “The Full Monty” include:

Trek Stephens, The Toggery - July 7

TBA - July 9

Kevin Klepper, Whitefish Moose Lodge - July 16

Doug Reed, Whitefish Lake Restaurant - July 20

Rob Quist, Montana’s Musical Ambassador - July 23

Joe Akey, Whitefish Winter Carnival - July 28

Jesse Felder, Stillwater Fish House - July 30

Robert Nystuen, Glacier Bank - Aug. 3

Sam Dauenhauer, Sweet Peaks Ice Cream - Aug. 5

“The Full Monty” will open alongside the regional premiere of the hit musical, “Rock of Ages,” the tribute musical to the 80s rock and roll scene, featuring the music of Journey, Pat Benatar, Whitesnake, Bon Jovi, Poison, Twisted Sister, Styx, and more. It is being presented by Casey’s, and opens July 8 at the Whitefish Performing Arts Center.

“Rock of Ages will be the biggest rock party Whitefish has ever seen,” says Morrison. “It’s a hilarious story about rock and roll dreams in LA in the 1980s. I grew up with all this music, so it’s a special trip to me. And the band and singers are unreal!”

Rounding out the season will be the classic, “Man of La Mancha,” opening July 14 at the Whitefish Performing Arts Center. Led by Metropolitan Opera Baritone, Jeff Mattsey, as Don Quixote, Man of La Mancha is one of the most beloved musicals of all time.

ATP’s 2016 summer season is sponsored by Glacier Bank, Casey’s Bar & Grill, Whitefish Credit Union, and Don K Subaru, with assistance from Central Heating, Cooling, Plumbing, and Electrical, and Alpine Village Market.
