Betty Lou Robertson Showen Funseth Schurr

Betty Lou Robertson Showen Funseth Schurr “Trapper Betty,” passed away at age 90 on Dec. 15, 2015 at her home in Whitefish surrounded by her husband John and daughters. She was born June 27, 1925 to John and Margaret Robertson. After graduating high school she lived in California for a few years.

Betty managed the Izaak Walton Inn with her friend Rosie Hamilton in the late 1950s. she moved to Whitefish where she worked at the Hanging Tree and the Whitefish Lake Golf Course. She also managed the VFW for Barb Gallo. She was an avid horsewoman, hunter, trapper, and fisherman. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, one sister and a grandson.

She is survived by her husband, John; three daughters, JoAnn Rider, Chuckie Hannon and Pattie Showen; five grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held in warmer weather — she hated the cold — most likely on her birthday June 27.
