Whitefish freeskier Parkin Costain cleanly landed four cliff drops before making sweeping turns to the finish at Sunday’s IFSA Junior Freeski Nationals event at Fernie, B.C.

Judges scored the aggressive run with a 34.87, giving Costain more than enough points to place him at the top of the podium against a stacked field of the best teen freeskiers in the U.S. and Canada.

The contest was held in the Knot Chutes area of Fernie Alpine Resort. Costain started his winning finals run by launching a cliff between and over tight trees. A few turns after the landing he lined up a second cliff drop before quickly entering a chute area and another drop. He wrapped up his run with a huge air in front of a crowd gathered at the finish.

Costain’s win at Fernie comes on the heels of another first place Feb. 9 at Kicking Horse, B.C.

Earlier this winter he was invited to compete at the Freeride Junior World Championships at Grandvalira ski resort in Andorra, Spain.
