WHS hosts freshman orientation
In an effort to better inform incoming freshman at Whitefish High School, staff and students are hosting an interactive and informative freshman orientation fair, Monday, Feb. 22.
The fair is designed to showcase to eighth-graders all the opportunities available at Whitefish High School.
“We offer a rich and rigorous curriculum inside of a wide array of course offerings,” said Whitefish prinicpal Kerry Drown. “In addition, there are many opportunities to get involved beyond the classroom, including the arts, activities, athletics, clubs, and community service groups. Over 85 percent of our students participate in these endeavors, which provide opportunities for everyone to become more academically and socially well-rounded.”
High school students at the fair will talk about their extra-curricular successes, including recent state accolades with DECA competition, the performance at the State Thespian Conference, state runners-up in speech and debate, and their state trophies in girls golf and football.
Counseling plays a vital role in the successful entry into high school.
Freshman guidance counselor Tina Corwin will also be meeting with eighth-grade students in their classrooms to discuss course selections and answer questions in preparation for high school registration.
The Freshman Orientation Fair will take place at Whitefish High School on Monday, February 22nd beginning at 7 p.m., and will last about 90 minutes. For more information, please contact principal Kerry Drown or counselor Tina Corwin at 862-8600.
