Whitefish Police are searching for suspects involved in a rash of graffiti vandalism around downtown last week.

A number of alleyways and businesses were targeted, including Stephen Isley Jewelry, The Village Shop, Downtowner Inn, Buffalo Cafe, Latitude 48 and the upper facade of Mum’s Flowers.

Surveillance video captured what appears to be two men spray painting a bench in front of the Stephen Isley store. Both suspects were wearing green jackets and baseball caps.

“They look to be about 20 years old and wearing similar team jackets,” Whitefish Police Chief Bill Dial said.

The video is posted on the Whitefish Police Facebook page. Anyone with information is asked to call 406-863-2420.

Buffalo Cafe owner Andy Maetzold first noticed the graffiti all along the alleyside of the restaurant.

“The next day we noticed they also got onto the roof,” he said. “We’re not sure if they came back or if it was the same incident. It’s really annoying.”

Dial says it’s best to clean off graffiti immediately to discourage more tagging.
