Three Whitefish School Board trustee seats are up for election this spring.

The three-year terms of Nick Polumbus and Ruth Harrison are set to end, while a two-year term held by Carol Atkinson also will be open. Atkinson was appointed to the board after Pat Jarvi died last year. Her appointment goes until the upcoming election.

Prospective candidates have until March 24 to file for the election. Applications are available at the Whitefish School District main office. The election is May 3.

In a twist, candidates must select whether they’re running for a three-year seat or the lone two-year seat. According to district business director Danelle Reisch, all candidates will be on a single ballot, but voters will separately consider the three-year candidates and the two-year candidates.

Polumbus says he intends to seek a second term, while Atkinson told the Pilot she isn’t running for re-election.

Harrison is currently serving her 10th year as a trustee in Whitefish. She remains undecided on whether she’ll run for re-election, but says she’s giving it strong consideration.
