Speech takes second at home meet
The Whitefish speech and debate team finished second in their home invitational tournament Saturday.
Columbia Falls took first place out of the 17 schools that visited, winning with 147 sweepstakes points. Whitefish finished behind the Wildcats with 130 points.
Zach Ade in extemporaneous speech and Teigen Tremper in informative speech led the Bulldogs, both earning first place finishes. Also helping the team earn points, were the team of Ian Caltabiano and Zachary Kasselder with a second place finish in policy debate; and Seth Carmichael and Zoe Dugan with a third place in public forum debate.
“We are so happy to have put on a successful tournament,” said Whitefish head coach Carissa Shupp. “Without the help from the other coaches in the division it wouldn’t have been possible. Luckily we have neighbors who are always willing to help when needed. Coach [Brianna] Walling and I are so proud of our students’ hard work and performance at our home meet.”
Whitefish travels to Kalispell this weekend for their next tournament.
